Derwent Bank, half a mile south of the village of Portinscale, is an idyllically situated Country House hotel.
The Country House, designated as non-smoking, has 38 bedrooms, equipped with a hairdryer, clock radio and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. Flatscreen TVs are provided in the bedrooms. In addition, in the grounds there is the refurbished Coach House, a luxurious two bedroom apartment.Indoor facilities include a lounge, bar, games room with table tennis and Nintendo Wii, a conservatory, and outdoors guests can enjoy croquet and putting.Accommodation through LateRooms is on a BandB basis. A choice of full English or continental breakfast is offered. A three-course dinner is available on request at a price of £22.95 and served at 7.30pm. Please contact the house if you wish to have dinner on your night of arrival. All meals are served in an informal, friendly atmosphere at tables for up to 10 guests.Free car parking is available. Please notify the Country House in advance if you intend to arrive after 10.30pm. Bedrooms are available from 2.30pm on the day of arrival and should be vacated by 10am on the day of departure.With spectacular views of the fells, including Skiddaw, England's fourth highest peak, this Country House is an excellent base for those on an activity or walking holiday.Keswick, a popular market town, is just 2 miles away by car and only 2 miles away for those who choose to walk. Wordsworth's house and gardens are 13 miles away.
